If you are planning a trip to Deadwood, it's a no-brainer to plunk down the 99 cents for this guide. I vacation in South Dakota almost every year and always spend a couple of days in Deadwood. Sometime during Day Two I find myself wanting a break from gambling. This guide is exactly what I need.

The locals will tell you that Deadwood has become all about the casinos, and there's no other reason to go there. Well, the entire town was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961. Obviously it has a lot of history, and this guide tells you where to look for it. The Mount Moriah Cemetery AKA Boot Hill (where Buffalo Bill and Calamity Jane among others are buried) is the best known attraction. It is indeed cool.

The guide also tells you about local eateries and watering holes (accounting for a good chunk of the 101 cool things to do). It is very current - it mentions a museum that had a soft opening in 2012 and plans a grand opening for 2013. There are also... Read more
It's not a bad book but it didn't have some of the information for which I was hoping. The various attractions are described but there are no maps, addresses or phone numbers for contacting. If you're looking for just a description list of attractions with no further information then this book is very adequate.
Very good, I was there once but plan to go back soon.
