14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition

The competition's Gold Medal winner, Ukrainian Vadym Kholodenko, captured the attention of audiences and critics alike for his powerful performances marked by vibrant imagination and intelligence. His cadenza in Mozart's Concerto K. 467-which he composed on the plane from Moscow to the Competition-showed him to have ''the guts of a true super artist'' (San Francisco Classical Voice). Kholodenko s 2013-14 season includes performances at the La Jolla Music Society, Krannert Center, Mann Center with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, and Oporto National Orchestra. This live CD of his competition performances features Stravinsky's Petrouchka and the complete Liszt Transcendental Etudes.
