These shrimp are able to change colors, and they will range from tan to dark brown, and once they become comfortable in their surroundings, they turn into a vibrant red or blue!
These are larger than dwarf shrimp, growing to a maximum size of 3 1/2 inches.
Easy to keep in a home freshwater aquarium - no special equipment is needed for these exotic animals.
Singapore Flower Shrimp are a truly fascinating species due to their lively personalities and their ability to quickly change color based on their mood and/or environment. Colors we see most often are an earthy tan and cerulean blue. These are one of the largest freshwater shrimp, ranging in size from 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches.
Singapore Flower Shrimp are peaceful and will get along great with any other critters in your aquarium, as long as the others aren't aggressive towards them. Like dwarf shrimp, they eat algae and leftover fish food (as well as invertebrate food pellets.)
RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS: - pH level range: 6.5 - 8.0 - Temperature range: 68° - 85° F - Recommended Aquatic Arts tank mates: Any type of dwarf shrimp (such as Green Babaulti shrimp, Blue Velvet shrimp, Sakura Fire Red Cherry Shrimp, Neon Yellow Shrimp, etc.), various types of snails (such as Nerite Snails, Sulawesi Snails, etc.). They can also be kept with small to medium-sized, non-aggressive fish. - Additional notes: Care is similar to dwarf shrimp. Shrimp prefer to live in tanks with live aquatic plants (such as java moss, willow hygro, green cabomba, etc.). This is because the shrimp like the cover that plants provide, they love to graze on the plants for algae, and the plants help keep the water clean for them.

These shrimp like to filter feed in strong current Once they find a good spot in the current they like to stay there. One of my two has been in one place for a least a day simply filter feeding. the other has spent about half its time in the plants feeding on hair algae Yes, I have a algae problem at the moment). I has also feed off of algae on the gravel at the bottom of the tank. I have note seen them change color yet. They have not bothered my black neon tetras or nerite snails.
The shrimp arrived a few days after i ordered them. The box was well insulated with shredded paper insulation. the insulation is a little messy but it is biodegradable. Each shrimp was in its own bag with more moss then I expected. both molted after about 48 hours after arrival.
I purchased several items from Aquatic Arts, partly because of the wonderful reviews I saw. They deserve every good review! They clearly care a great deal about what they do. Everything I received was healthy and happy, packaged carefully in easily recyclable packaging. The moss, plants, and shrimp I purchased were healthy and happy and after a gentle introduction into their new tank, were active and happy. My goldfish responded almost immediately to the better, healthier tank - very spunky and happy, eating the algie wafers and enjoying the fresh moss. My snails also found the algie wafers almost immediately. The shrimp both acclimated very easily into their new tank. I am very excited about my purchases, and will happily purchase from Aquatic Arts again :-)
Arrived a week or two later than expected, but they arrived healthy, happy & safely to NW Ohio.
Kind of bland in coloring when they first arrived, but after a month the colors are now a beautiful, rich brown with a bright yellowish-tan stripe on their top from head-to-tail. They like hiding under the flat rocks I have stacked on top of my Madagascar drift wood root that still refuses to sink.
They do need a high current and lots of room in the tank as others have mentioned. Mine is a 39-gallon bowfront with a cannister filter & power filter. Most of the fish are docile, a pleco, cory, various tetras, long-finned danios, siamese flying foxes, several varieties of loaches, a few otocinclus & some nerite snails. The tank also has three voracious silver dollars that eat everything. They ate all of the live plants & my large algae eating shrimp (or they got the heck out of the tank as fast as they could) I witnessed neither, so can only guess. The flower shrimp were...
