Men's shoes fit 1/2 size down from you running / training shoe size
Heel is 3/4 inch in height, the preferred height in Olympic Lifting.
The most significant change to the shoe is the sole design, with a single sole design throughout, making the sole incredibly strong and flexible.
The 2013 Pendlay Weightlifting shoes are warrantied for 90 days. Although the sole is greatly improved we still recommend only using these shoes for Olympic Weightlifting.
The limited edition Pendlay Weightlifting Shoe features durable synthetic leather with heavy duty black nylon mesh throughout. The most significant change to the shoe is the sole design, with a single sole design throughout, making the sole incredibly strong and flexible. Even though the look of the shoe has changed dramatically from previous versions they still have the same Dowin fit with the wider style that people have come to depend on from Pendlay Dowin Weightlifting Shoes. We kept the heel at 3/4 inch in height, the preferred height in Olympic Lifting. We are finding the Men's shoes fit 1/2 size down from you running / training shoe size.

EXCELLENT shoe. I've used (3x a week for 2 years) Reebok Power Lifter 2.0 Plus shoes and these are of a different grade. For my recent comparisons, I tried the AdiPowers and these; which I've ready many reviews and can confirm 2 things. Adipowers are NOT for flat footed people (I am a 2E, but can fit regular width shoes just fine, prefer 2E) as they are very narrow through the arch and are secure. Adipowers are also very true to size.
The 2013 Pendlays are definitely a wide person's shoe, although a person with 'regular' width feet would work well too. I would not recommend these shoes for a high arch or narrow footed person.
As a comparison to my Reebok's, these provide a higher heel feeling and feel extremely stable. Pendlay seems to have fixed their shoe lace design so that when all of the holes are laced up, I'm left with about 6" of "tying' shoelace. Perfectly fine once tucked under the top strap. As far as straps, they are also not super long, as...
I bought these as a replacement for the old 2007 versions, which were finally starting to fall apart. Some comparisons:
- Uppers are nearly identical in cut and stitching - I was glad to see this. The straps, one of which had broken on my old shoes, are now made from heavy-duty nylon and seem much sturdier. - New soles have much more flexibility in the toe. Split jerks feel better in these than in the stiffer old one-piece sole design. - I sized these down 1/2 size before but bought my street size (9) this time. I think if you have ultra-wide feet like mine you may want to stick with your regular shoe size, but if you're less than a 3E you can probably size down.
Lifting in these feels very stable and they're relatively comfortable to walk around in thanks to the toe flex.
I am a 165lb power lifter and have competing on and off for the past six years. I used to dead lift and squat in the same Chuck Taylors. I will continue to do so with my dead lift as my numbers are still improving without adverse effects. On the other hand the flat shoe started to bother me due to the rotation on my hips (anterior pelvic tilt). This pain was causing me to lose all leg drive coming out of hole in my squat. That is why I started researching and looking for a new shoe.
My degree focus is in Biology. I am also a veteran who worked in the FD while active duty. Due to my background and understanding of the human anatomy I decided to research the angles involved with the lift. If you have a narrow stance in your squat and keep the bar high on your back this shoe is for you. It allows you to naturally sit into a flexed position with your ankle joint. Once this happens your hips will drop naturally. Allowing you to push your gluts toward your calves. Before coming...
