End mill holders are the handiest way to hold end mills. They offer several advantages. The bit is inserted into the hole in the holder and a set screw is tightened against the flat in the center of the end mill. The holder screws onto the external thread on the spindle nose, with the unused end of the double-ended end mill going up inside the spindle hole. The holder can be removed and replaced and the tool will return to exactly the same position, which is handy when working with CNC, as tool lengths do not need to be recalculated. Turned in one CNC operation with the internal thread cut with a single-pointed threading operation, the holder is very accurately concentric. Other size end mill holders for smaller tools are also available. Designed for use on Sherline lathes or other tools with a 3/4-16 external thread on the spindle.
