Speed control cord gives you control of the fans speed, allowing you to manage heat for a range of situations
Overview This AC Infinity cooling system gives you direct control of the fans speed, allowing you to manage heat for a range of situations. It includes one 80mm aluminum AC fan, two metal guards, one 2-inch screw mounting set, and one 6-foot speed control unit. The dual-ball bearing axial fan is specially designed to run at different speeds with minimal motor noise. Using the screw set, you can mount the fan with its two protective guards onto a wall or the side of a cabinet. Just plug it in into any standard outlet to start cooling. Speed Control Easily turn the knob to respond to different situations. When your electronics are under heavy use, you can turn it up for high performance cooling to combat the excessive heat. Then leave it at a low speed during normal operation for that gentle breeze. Can also turn the fan off. Applications This system is popular in a variety of applications including aquarium lighting, incubators and small enclosures such as stereos, amplifiers, computers, and Wi-Fi boxes.

I got these fans (2 x 120mm) to cool off an under-counter mini fridge. Like other reviewers pointed out, these fans are somewhat noisy. The real problem is the triac based speed controller. This means when you turn down the speed, you get a hum or buzz coming from the fan caused by the harmonics generated by the speed controller chopping the current going to the fan, bummer! This noise was loud and distinct enough to be heard over the noise of the mini fridge's compressor. Since the fans pumped more than enough air even on the lowest setting, I devised a way to make them really quiet. I wired two fans in series, so each fan ran at 60V, instead of 120V. In this configuration, they are almost silent, and still blow plenty of air to cool off the fridge.
Nice and quiet, even at full blast, which isn't much of a breeze, but fine for my purposes. Comes with two metal protective grates, long screws, nuts and washers, which are helpful for my use. What did I do?!? I live in San Diego. Not much AC or heat around here because it's almost always perfect here. Alas, a few days a year, I wish I had AC. Traced the circle onto a nice, small foam cooler and cut it out with a knife. Screwed this fan (comes with all hardware, including washers) into the foam, blowing in, and cut a square hole for output. Fill this puppy with frozen bottles of water and blue ice cold packs. It cools one person, anywhere, perfectly for hours. Can cool a small, closed room by several degrees too, but won't make an impact in large rooms, other than those on which it's blowing directly. This is an ideal fan for this project, though if I had to do it again, I'd skip the speed control and go for the higher speed version. If you do this, remember: heat...
I had a hard time finding the right kind of AC fan for my aquarium canopy. I'm really glad I found and purchased this set, as it was the perfect replacement for my old fans, which went out with the original ballast and flourescent lights. Really, all I had to do was drill a few holes and mount them in. I would have preferred if a template for the holes had been provided, but it wasn't that hard to mark them on my own. Just a little bit of an incovenience. The instruction manual was meant to cover multiple sizes, so it lacked some specifics on the size of hole saw to use for my specific fans, but again, I pretty easily figured that one out on my own. The main reason I gave four stars instead of five was because on both fans, the plug outlet interfered with the holes where you place the bolts, so I had to really force them in, which never feels good when dealing with electronics. On the second fan, I just left the fourth hole open and didn't mount it. It worked fine for me, but...
