1.Remove the wrist watch from your arm or storage. It is not advisable to wind a watch while it is on the arm because, with the watch tight against the skin, the winding motion may not be effective. 2. Hold the watch face up in your left hand. Reverse the position, of course, if left-handed. The stem may have several settings, including settings for time, calendar, alarm, or time zone. The settings are located at little "clicks" as you pull the stem out or push it in. Use trial and error to feel the clicks and identify the winding position. 3. Use the thumb and index finger to carefully pull out the watch stem by the stem's top or "crown." This can be difficult because you do not want to over-wind the mechanism. Be conservative; stop when you feel resistance, but if the watch runs down sooner than you like, you know you did not quite hit the maximum tension. In time, you will develop a feel for the resistance. 4 Turn the stem forward repeatedly until some resistance is felt. Depending on the size of the watch, 20 to 40 forward turns should lead to resistance; over-winding will strain or break the mechanism. 5 Press the crown to return stem to its place.

This is an alloy bronze colored watch. Only measuring the octagon shape, it is 1.75 by 1.75 inches. The middle face of it has what looks like a cat with N, S, E, & W arrows sort of compass like. The number font is quite unusual and on the edges are 3 bats. You can see all the gears from front or back.
Something happened that was kind of embarrassing. I'll explain it here, in case it may help someone else. I opened this up and just loved the design of this watch, but I thought it was broken since the hands weren't moving. I wrote to the seller to see if he could help. He wrote back and explained about how to hand wind a watch. I feel silly admitting it, but that was my issue. I haven't had a watch like this for a very long time and I simply forgot. I'm so used to the battery operated, I just glossed over the part in the listing where it says mechanical hand wind.
This is actually a good thing. No worries about ever having to change a battery and less that can go...
This is a great pocket watch. It was my first one so I thought long and hard about getting it but it was completely worth it. First of all it came a day earlier than it said it would which was great. Secondly it looks amazing, feels amazing, and works amazingly. Lastly I've had this watch for a few months now and sadly I have already dropped it once on stone and dropped it in the sink accidently causing it to get waterlogged. This is why i'm giving it 5 stars though, after I dropped i the back came off, I then put it back on and wound it up good as new. Then when I got it wet I just took off the back cover and put it in rice for a few hours and voila good as new. To conclude This gets 5 stars because despite my clumsy behavior it still looks amazing, feels amazing, and works amazingly.
For the price this seems to be an excellent little mechanical watch. The octagonal case is visually interesting and the watch movement itself can be seen through a window in the back. I imagine this will generate many positive comments when I use it in my gothic costumes.
A winding according to the instructions seems to have the watch running all day.
The time may drift by a couple of minutes or so. The Crystal and rear window are plastic. The case is cheap metal.
What do you expect for less than $20 for gawd's sake?
The only downside for me is that the hands are so delicate they are hard to see in poor lighting, an artifact of so much of the face being sacrificed to a window to show the workings at work. Hands as delicate as these need a lot of white face to be clearly seen.
