These are an excellent pair of weightlifting shoes. I will first start out by saying I use these shoes specifically for high bar and front squatting and I train for powerlifting.

I purchased Nike Romaleos 2's as my first squat shoes and I used them for about three or four months. I will first start by saying those shoes are amazing Olympic weightlifting shoes, in looks, build quality, and function. However, for my biomechanics, the quarter inch heel was a bit too much for my liking. I have very good ankle flexibility and can squat ATG in flat soles with no problem. The main reason I prefer squat shoes is for the stability and a quicker set up after unracking the weight.

Over my four months of using those shoes, I noticed I was experiencing slight knee pain. I attributed this to the Romaleos having too much of a downward angle as a result of the quarter inch heel height. I have pretty long legs and my knees track forward naturally quite a bit when squatting ATG... Read more
Fits nicely. I'm a size 11.5 US but got these in size 12. Haven't used them yet. Noticed upon arrival that they have smudges on the back stripes of both shoes. Kind of like the paint melted and they tried to use touch up paint. Not noticeable from far away, just looks like a scuff mark. But if you look closely you can see the texture is bumpy and inconsistent.

I was going to return/exchange them but after thinking long and hard, decided against it because it's such a hassle and I bought these mainly for performance, not fashion. However, I did expect near perfect quality on a "new" shoe out of the box. Especially an expensive shoe ($90).
Might update this to 4 stars later if it performs well and doesn't fall apart on me.
I have recently started to get serious about lifting weights. In the past I've worked on my upper body a lot, but fell into the typical trap of your average gym goer; skipping leg day. A recent urge to work on my vertical jump again got me fired up to build some leg strength. Training was tough for me. I'm tall (6'6") with long legs and it made squatting with good form challenging for me. Concerned about hurting myself through my novice squatting experience I turned to the internet and other friends with experience for tips. Other than a few technique tips, the biggest piece of advice I continually heard was "Get a pair of lifting shoes!" I did some research on my own and found it to be fairly compelling so I gave these shoes a try, based on a specific recommendation from friends and a good rating from weight lifting sites.

Let me just say: they are great! I find it easier to squat deeper and with more upright form, which makes me feel safer and more confident... Read more
