This is what wireless freedom looks like.
Alesis' MicLink Wireless takes the complexity, frustration, and cost out of traditional wireless systems — creating a flexible, all-in-one solution that gets you up and running with the dynamic mic of your choice.
We’ve simplified the unnecessarily complicated world of wireless systems to the following:
Plug the MicLink Wireless universal XLR transmitter into your dynamic mic of choice.
Turn on the receiver.
Press and hold the pair button on the receiver and transmitter for 3 seconds.
Start performing – for up to 60 feet, for over 6 hours, and with up to 5 wireless systems working simultaneously.
That’s it — no channel searching, no mess of wires, no sacrifice in quality — just an easy wireless solution for your dynamic mic of choice.
Put the freedom back into your wireless microphone experience. Go MicLink Wireless.
I've used this at 4 gigs so far and the results are really good. Pros There is no noticeable degradation of sound. We have not experienced drop offs. Used the range up to 20 ft with no issues. Receiver charges in my truck on the way to the venue. Use your favorite Mic. You don't have to wonder how you will sound buying a new wireless mic system. You will sound the same.
Cons The venue has noisy power and this unit did not like to be plugged in even with a high end power conditioner. We used it with the batteries and it was flawless. You get about 8 hours on the batteries. It did interfere with my Line 6 wireless because they use the same 2.2G range. I switched channels on the Line 6 and it worked fine. The unit does not tell you the condition of the batteries. We got 3 and a half night's worth of performance out of one set of batteries.
Bottom line is our singer gets to use her favorite Mic as a...
I am a touring vocalist/musician and use this at all of my gigs now. It really frees me up to roam the room and the stage. It looks REALLY cheap (so cheap that every sound guy looks at me funny when I plug it in). It just works. My only suggestion is that you have a USB charger nearby (I keep one permanently attached to my bass amp rig's power strip). I haven't really tested this all the way down to failure as I charge it in-between sets. If I leave it off for more than a week, the battery is dead, so there is some weird offline draining issue that you should be aware of. I always plug in the base receiver unit (and I don't use a battery). As for the 1/4" mic output (which really makes it seem cheap), putting an XLR conversion cable on it has no problems. I plug this in front of my TC Helicon VoiceLive2 processor and don't have any humming/noise issues (Just make sure your equipment is set to NO PHANTOM power when you use this). I haven't tried it on any phantom powered...
The only reason for not giving this five stars was that the body of the transmitter won't fit in a normal mic clip. On Stage has a model that is large enough (30mm) but then the mic is left hanging way out in front of the mic clip. This requires that the friction screw on the mic clip be synched down really tight to keep the mic from sagging. I am using this with a Shure SM57 and a SM58. It sounds great with both mics.
We also own two Samson AP1 transmitters with an Airline 77 dual receiver. The Alesis sounds just as good as the Samson.
