One summer I set off alone in an attempt to cross a thousand miles of the most remote wilderness in America, the Brooks Range of northern Alaska. It was a journey of mountains and solitude, river crossings and rapids, mountain passes and gravel bars, wolves, grizzlies, and caribou. Join the adventure with this documentary of an epic solo adventure across the trackless wilds of Alaska.

Bruce "Buck" Nelson travelled 1000 miles across the Alaska, covering about two-thirds of the distance on foot and one-third by river in an inflatable canoe. Further, he filmed his trip and shows it to us in this excellent DVD. This was no beaten path; it was path of his own imagining. He saw other persons on only 2 of his 77 days in the wild. This is a place where antlers, fossils, 10,000 year-old tools and a wrecked plane lay where they fell. Grizzlies, wolves and caribou abound, mixed with an assortment of interesting wildlife and incredible scenery.
Buck does an admirable job of filming his own progress. It is clear that he spared no inconvenience in order to provide great footage, since many shots would require that he cover the same ground twice to film himself and to retrieve his camera. Camerawork is a is crisp and steady. Interspersed graphics provide an overview of the plan and his progress. He delivers all of the narrative in a clear and resonant...
Lived in Alaska for few years. He did a great video documentary on his trip, excellent scenery, well narrated. You'll like it!
I like this video and would have never bought it if it were heavy on hunting scenes. There are none other than fishing. Narrator has a pleasant demeanor and I found his trip fun and relaxing despite his many challenges along the way. I'm looking forward to watching it again. Perhaps in the future he will teach us more about fossils, survival skills, and more.
