Additional Information

The Alto Professional Live 1202 is a pro 12-channel, 2-bus mixer equipped with the tools you need to create the perfect mix.

With flexible routing options and a multitude of onboard DSP tools, Live 1202 fits the demands of nearly any live performance environment. It features 7 balanced XLR inputs with switchable phantom power, 3-band EQs, 2 aux sends per-channel for external effects and monitoring, and a 9-band graphic EQ for main or monitor outputs.

A headphone jack with an independent level control enables additional monitoring and mixing. 60mm faders with LED meters provide precise control and visual feedback for accurate, hands-on mixing.

Live 1202's high headroom results in cleaner mixes, a purer signal path, and loud, punchy audio. Onboard analog compression (channels 1-4) helps control dynamics and gel instruments together for a cohesive, defined mix.

Record your mix directly to a Mac or PC with a single USB connection. Live 1202's built-in USB port allows engineers, producers, and performers to convert two channels of 24-bit audio straight to a computer. Record live performances, band practices, theater performances, speaking events, and any other live sound event onto your computer for additional editing, mixing, and post-production. The USB connection is bi-directional, enabling sound files stored on your computer to be streamed to and played through Live 1202.

Select from 100 premium 24-bit Alesis DSP effects that give you additional creative control in any mixing environment. Choose from room and space delays, small and large hall acoustics, plate and spring reverbs, flangers, choruses, and more. Often, live sound environments are dimly lit and offer poor visibility to the mixing engineer. Live 1202 solves this problem by color coding each section of the mixer and providing brightly colored knobs so you can quickly and easily find what you need to adjust.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use an Alto Live mixer to record into my computer?

Yes! Every Alto Live mixer has a USB connection that carries 2 channels of audio from the MAIN output channel of the mixer to your computer. The USB connection also allows you to send audio from your computer back to the last channel of the mixer.

What is the ratio of the built-in compressor?

The built-in compressor is a 3:1 fixed ratio.

How is the built-in compressor controlled?

The COMP knob controls both the threshold and makeup gain for the compressor.

If I want to use an Alto Live series mixer in another country do I need a new power supply?

All Alto Live mixers have an auto-switching power supply built in. As long as you have the proper IEC power cable for the current you intend to use, the mixer will function.

How come my tablet or smartphone isn't charging when I plug it into USB port on top of my Alto Live mixer?

The USB power outlet on the top of all Alto Live mixers is a 5V 1A power supply and may charge your personal devices slower than a proper outlet. To optimize the charging speed of your device, try lowering your screen brightness and closing unused applications.

Why can't I hear any audio from the headphone output?

Alto Live mixers allow you to send the main mix to either the CTRL OUT or PHONES output, but not to both at the same time. If you do not hear any signal coming out of your headphones, make sure that MAIN OUT is selected by depressing the button above the headphone volume knob.

What is the DFX BYPASS jack for?

This input allows you to use a standard 1/4" latching-style footswitch to toggle the mixer's internal effects processor.

What does the green SIG light indicate?

When the green SIG light blinks on a channel, it means that a level of 2dBU has been reached. For optimum performance, try to only have this illuminate at your signals highest peaks.

At what level does the red clipping light illuminate?

The red clipping light will illuminate when your signal has reached +20dBU.

ASSESSMENT:
I bought this and love it …but …for some reason I have a slight tone in the background ...it's almost like a static-hiss combined with a very soft like tone. To be honest ...I'm not impressed as much as I would love to be because this is very annoying to me.

CONTROLS:
Slide controls move wonderfully smooth and have a nice feel, not cheap and wont move with extra soft feather duster. Same for the pots, they feel good and strong, not movable by an extra soft feather duster. Color coded Knobs are 3/4”inch (19.0500”mm) tall. Almost 3/8”inch across (actual 7.5406”mm) across.

MONITORING YOU SOUND:
Headphones do require 1/4” inch male plug.
DELIVERY:
One thing I didn’t like was delivery. It came to me in the manufacture’s box with a huge photo of the mixer on the box, it was not covered up with wrapping or in a plain box, UPS delivered it and we had to sign for it of course... Read more
I bought the 802 to use with a factory refurbished Alto TS8 powered speaker. I've had the 802 for a couple weeks and have used it and the TS8 for rehearsal and for one wine bar gig. To this point, I couldn't be happier. When powered up, the lights on the 802 and TS8 provide the only indication they've been turned on. I detect neither hiss nor hum. The mixer's controls feel solid. They operate smoothly and silently.

I've not yet explored the full range of functions offered by the 802. I play in a duo and run two mics and two acoustic/electric guitars through the mixer. The sound is crystal clear. All of the effects sound good in my living room, but to this point, the only effects I've sampled in a playing situation and at volume, are a few of the reverb plus delay settings & a couple of the plate reverbs. Once I dialed in a setting that sounded good in the room, I let well enough alone. The quality of the effects themselves are to my ear, top notch.

I purchased this product used however when it arrived it was brand spanking new out of the box. I plugged the unit in for a power/ led test as they are usually the first to go. Everything was fine until I ran audio. The moment the audio was live the unit was giving a nasty hum to my monitors. the unit had an internal issue with grounding as the sound went away when I pressed mute. This was a manufacturer issue clearly as the unit had not been tampered with.

I am really upset that the seller didn't take the time to test the unit however this would be a steal if no issues had been present. It has been my experience, that companies who spend more time on looks miss the target on quality.
