The writing was very strong. I felt compelled all the way through, but I was expecting something more ironic or poetic. This just sort of petered out. The through line, as it is called in drama, was more of a gradual rise and a gradual finish, which made, all in all, for a bit of a bland trek. The uncommon education was not all that uncommon. given the narrator's attending Wellesley. Things happened, meanwhile, in her personal life, that were supposedly part of her education, but don't we all learn from life while we're attending to our more formal education? A disappointment, all in all.
Exceptionally good character development, thoughtfully plotted.
Will recommend to my Book Group and other friends. All Wellesley graduates should read this book. 5 stars!
This author has an interesting paradigm on life. The story was also interesting, beginning a little slowly with just enough to keep me going. It got better and better as it went, unlike so many books today. I enjoyed the book, and it's window into life as a Wellesley student, at least one particular student. There are so many lingering threads to consider, such as the impact of depression on a family and loneliness versus friendship. This book is worth picking up.
