Andy Bey, American born pianist, singer, and composer, was 17 when he formed a trio with his siblings Salome and Geraldine, called Andy and the Bey Sisters. The trio made more of a name touring Europe through 1959, than in their own country. This album, recorded at RCA studios in Nashville late in 1960, introduced their warm and deeply rooted vocal styling to a larger audience. They were down-home oriented, and on this set they come through with some very evocative performances. In addition, the bonus tracks here include a 1961 RCA single, and four jazzy tunes recorded during their stay in Paris and London, which were originally released on a rare French Fontana EP, and feature the talent of jazz soloists Kenny Dorham and Barney Wilen. As the London Daily Herald hailed them at the time, this is "the world s most exciting vocal group!"
