Great meaningful stories, but many of the episodes, even though true to real life, focus on tragedy. This is the case more in this season than in earlier seasons. We ail enjoyed them though (in spite of or younger kids having a few nightmares after watching so many people die etc). It got to be the subject of discussion at our house before we would watch the next episode....we would try to guess how many people would die from a disease (like anthrax), go blind, threaten suicide, lose a structure from fire and go broke, have a tree fall on them and become hopeless, etc. etc. Somehow, even though we wished they were overall a little lighter-hearted, we still end up watching them and being glad we did.
I was impressed to see so many scenes restored that were missing from previous prints and syndication versions, but May We Make Them Proud is still incomplete.
When Albert goes to Nellie's with the music box, he runs into Laura downstairs and tells her he'll go up to Mary. Meanwhile, Nellie has another encounter with The Customer Who Always Complains, finally serving him raw chicken and running him out of the place.
This wasn't there in the download--just so people know. I assume it won't be on an eventual DVD either. Same true for Little House Years? Though I don't care tooo much about that one; it is just a clip show.
We recently began watching Little House on the Prairie at my house. It is difficult to find things that are interesting to the entire family. This one is fabulous. Great family lessons, clean television with a strong Christian background. Our family loves every episode. It is historical in nature as well. What a great way to learn about the earlier side of America!
