This is the Apocalypse online, an album of woodcuts by Albrecht Dürer inspired by the Book of Revelation.
According to general agreement, the German painter and printmaker from Nuremberg, Albrecht Dürer, was the greatest artist of the Northern Renaissance, producing a body of artistic output that was prodigious, admired and imitated by artists of his own and succeeding generations.
Watch for background landscapes and architectural features fashioned from Dürer's own familiar German surroundings, and yet they artistically portend the Biblical End of Days.
