These pants are very idiosyncratic. I purchased 38/32 in nubian brown in June 2015.

1. Sizing. The waist seems at least a inch large. I would size down a size in the waist. The 32 length is a measured 31.25. It actually wears more like a 31 as the fabric is crinkly.

2. Pockets. Front pockets are soft mesh ( like a mens swim trunk liner) for the bottom ~3 inches which is nice because the pockets won't retain sand or water. I rate this a plus.

Front pockets are 2-3 " less deep than my extended arm and fingers when standing. That puts them on the the very edge of being too shallow for me . Hasnt been an issue when sitting as the pants are pulled tight across the pockets when sitting. Laying down flat prety effectively empties your front pocket as the rear edge of the pocket does not follow the side seam but is forward of the side seam at the bottom. This creates slope along the back of the pocket of ~ 30 deg. and any change just rolls out... Read more
I got these to replace a pair of the discontinued but nearly identical Candidate pants from Arc'Teryx. These are not them. The Arc'Teryx Candidate Pant used the slick and stretchy but super tough Tweave material. Looked like dress slacks, but took a beating like canvas. These use the same materials (polyester & spandex), but in a different blend and weave (94/6 Rampart, vs. 84/16 Candidate).

These are closer in feel and weave to the material of the North Face Horizon Peak pants. Very lightweight, kind of a crepe feeling material. They have a matte finish rather than the near sheen of their predecessor. Still stretchy and durable, though. A bit more snag-resistant actually. These add the Archaeopteryx bird fossil stitched in monochrome on the pocket. Displays the quality with being overtly brand conscious.

Design improvements include a double snap at the waist, a stronger zipper, and thicker belt loops; on the Candidate these were all very weak points... Read more
Great pants - plenty of room (to layer, depending on situation), fit as expected, very lightweight, and do a decent job of breaking the wind (making them feel warmer than the thickness of the material would suggest, especially during activity). They do have a "swoosh" to them, given the material - but this only seems to be a concern if you were to wear these casually in quieter settings, not really what they are made for. They look nice, and I have not been hesitant to wear these to certain casual outdoor functions. These would make an excellent backup pair of pants while backpacking, to add increased wind, warmth, and water resistance (not rain pants, but would help under circumstances, and are very so light it would be worth the added ounces for those who are ultralight). Its Arc'teryx, so you know they are going to be tough and stand the test of time. I have arc'teryx gear that looks practically brand new, which I have had and used regularly for 5+ years. Great brand, cant go... Read more
