I liked my first pair so well that I bought another for rainy weather and work. You can use them for horse riding since they have a heel. I tried on my first pair so I knew what size to get. They are comfortable. Don't have to break them in! Not sure on arch support but they are padded and hi-end sneaker-like so I guess they have some arch support. I have high instep for most boots are hard for me to get my foot into. I can wear them all day at work and my feet don't hurt.
I haven't worn them all day yet but I think they would be comfortable for all day wear. They are perfect fit. I wear a 9 and I bought a 8.5 based on measuring my foot by their size chart and they are perfect. I think if you want to wear a thick sock you would need a 9. I wear light to mid weight socks. I don't like the heel platform but I see that without it there wouldn't be a good arch support unless you placed a arch support in the boot but with the heel platform it allows for a natural arch support feel. The width is good for a normal medium width foot. It you have a wide foot, you might need to go wider as even with the leather stretching it would take some time for the boot to stretch to a wider foot bed. I am not an expert on boots but these feel great so far and I can see myself wearing them for quite some time. I hope they hold up but if I have any problems with them down the line or if I find them to be superb I will update my post. I like the color (timber) berry pink. I...
I read the other reviews before I ordered the boots. The other reviews were very helpful. I also visited a local store to try on the boots. I ordered the boots a half size shorter than my usual size; I normally wear a size 9.5 and I ordered a 9. The length was just right and left a pinky width in the toe for going down steep inclines. The boots are quite wide, but I wear heavy socks with them, so that's o.k. In the reviews some people complained about the leather being thin; I did not find it to be too thin in the pair I received, but they were thin in the ones I tried on at the store. Perhaps Ariat fixed the problem. I also Snow Sealed the boots and they repel dew on grass and small puddles. I do not have the water-proof model. I would wear rubber boots for walking through water. All in all I think this is a good boot for the money. They are comfortable, have a heel for horseback riding, an excellent sole and good arch support. They are not boots meant for backpacking. You need...
