String Quartets 1-5

Dutton s groundbreaking Arnell series has garnered much attention and warm praise from critics. Arnell s music widely admired by such artists as Sir Thomas Beecham and Leopold Stokowski fell out of musical fashion in the late 1950s. Thankfully, Arnell s superbly conceived and original compositions were rediscovered by later generations, who have responded with notable enthusiasm. This new recording contains the first five of his six string quartets, performed by the Tippett Quartet.
