I spent about an hour reviewing the 'top rated men's walking shoes of 2015' and this one seemed to make the list on several reviews. I ordered 3 different pairs of the 'top rated' shoes... this one, a Saucony Cohesion 8 and the New Balance M990BK3. As far as initial comfort, the New Balance beat them all easily and the one's I kept. They are a bit wider, far less stiff, and have more cushioning throughout the sole of the shoe. However, there does seem to be some quality control issues with that brand and, if interested, I will post a periodic review of it as I use the shoe.
Now, as far as the Asics shoe goes....I thought it narrow and somewhat stiff. I wear a 10.5 regular usually (although I admit I prefer a wider shoe) and this shoe would have bothered me. It also felt a bit on the cheap side, but that is only my initial impression. In all fairness, I only wore the 3 pairs of shoes around my house for the day before deciding on which to keep. I did think these...

I have now had the Asics Men's GEL-Tech Walker Neo 4 Walking shoe for a year and a half. By my calculations, the shoe has so far lasted for over 1,000 miles of walking. Still looks good. Soles, front and back worn a bit - but still serviceable. Insoles replaced twice with Dr. Scholl's. Stiching still good. Mine is the white with blue accents. Color still good. Overall support still good. A great investment. I still wish there was a better color selection.

I walk 2-4 times per week for 8-10 miles per outing. Numerous shorter walks every week.
I have arthritis as well as a having a good sized bunion. Although I walk a lot, I usually have pain with each step. My steps always strike heal first with full rolling motion through the balls of my feet. I walk at a pace from 3.1-4.0 MPH (15-19 min/mile).
Functionality: This shoe does not follow 'minimalistic' trends...
I work on the hardline sales floor in a Target Store and the shoe does a good job of making the walking miles comfortable on a concrete floor.
