B-50 Dacron Recurve String Standard Endless Loop Type All lengths are A.M.O. specification measured on serving machine at 100 lbs. tension. READ CAREFULLY : A.M.O. RECURVE BOW STRING LENGTH DEFINED: THE ACTUAL PHYSICAL LENGTH OF THE BOW STRING WILL BE 4" SHORTER THAN THE A.M.O. LENGTH. FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU ORDER A 52" A.M.O LENGTH BOW STRING THE ACTUAL STRING LENGTH WILL BE 48" MEASURED AT 100 LBS TENSION General Recurve & Longbow Bowstring Guidelines As a rule of thumb most Dacron ( B-50 ) recurve bowstrings measured out of the package and not under tension will be approximately 4" less than the AMO ( Archery Manufacturer's Organization ) bow length. Longbows are generally 3" less. A Dacron Bowstring (B-50) which depending on overall length will stretch up to an inch under 100 lbs of tension and will look "out of the package" like it is approximately 4 inches or more shorter than the bow. This is the reason you hear people speak about bowstrings being 4 inches shorter than the bow length. Endless loop type string lengths can be adjusted slightly by twisting or untwisting them, this allows for minor overall length variations. If your unsure of the length needed you can take your old string that has been unstrung from your bow and take the measurement from tip of loop end to the other tip loop end "tip to tip" while stretching it out hand tight with no slack in your string ( make sure the loops are flattened closed and extended out to give the greatest length possible ) assuming this will give you the approximate actual length of your string, now you can add 4" to this measurement anf find your approximate AMO LENGTH. If you do not have a string on the bow and nothing printed on the bow handle or limb giving you the "AMO" length you can do a little research by trying to contact the bow manufacturer or doing a internet search on how to measure bowstring length, but once again as a rule of thumb the above guidelines are standard and should work in most cases.

I must be in the minority, I installed my new string tonight on my Greatree Deerslayer Recurve, and the serving is already spreading out near the nocking point, and near the limb tips. Not enough to mean the string will break today, or even a few days from now... But this is a brand new string, and it's in the same condition my old one was that I am replacing with this one. But I do not trust this string now at all, I will be replacing it within a week. I ordered 2, so I will try setting up the second string tomorrow, and see if it's in better shape... But I don't have very high expectations.
If the second string is in the same condition in the first I will certainly NOT order these strings again.
For those who do not know, the serving is an integral part of the bowstring and helps prevent the strands of the string from breaking where the string undergoes the most friction and stress (the nocking point and the limb tips). If the Serving frays and or spreads...
Utter garbage. I went through 3 of these in about a week, the serving doesn't hold up. Even my son shooting a 28lb draw weight recurve managed to ruin the serving in about 10-14 hrs of shooting. Go figure. I had a custom string made for me and it has started to show wear and tear after about a month...and is still fully operational. Don't buy this chinese stuff, it doesn't last.
First off let me say that the string craftsmanship was top notch. Amazingly well made, strong, and inspired confidence. The problem arose in that the string that came was way way to short. Yes I knew about the 54amo. The bow calls for a 54ammo. However the string did not come to 50 inches with the standard 4 inches subtracted. It measures out tip to tip like 47 inches with loops closed. I know there is supposed to be some stretch but a full 3 inches......? I think not. What got me is that it wasn't a simple miss pack, because the string wrapping it came in said 54amo as well. I'm too eager to wait on another string so will just go to bass pro and hope they have what I need from there. As for the string I got, it replaces the paracord I had on the kids bow.
