She's spent the rest of her life determined to make up for her mistakes, and she's succeeded in becoming a committed, protective parent—maybe even overprotective. Still, she loosens her grip just enough to let Andy attend a local church social—a decision that terrifies her when the church is consumed by fire. But Andy survives…and remarkably, saves other children from the flames. Laurel watches as Andy basks in the role of unlikely hero and the world finally sees her Andy, the sweet boy she knows as well as her own heart.
But when the suspicion of arson is cast upon Andy, Laurel must ask herself how well she really knows her son…and how far she'll go to keep her promise to protect him forever.

I only just found out that this book was a prequel to "Secrets She Left Behind" by reading the ads at the back. Once I learned about this book, I just HAD to read it.

[ASIN:0778325415 Before The Storm]]I'm almost at the end of the book but felt I had to make comment. Diane Chamberlain is one of my favourite of favourite authors and recommend you read all of her books. 'Before the Storm' starts off slowly (just perfect) and keeps building and quickening up as the story unfolds. I have reached the point in the book where there is going to be an almighty flash of lightening and crash of thunder. I am terrified of the outcome - truly. Can't wait to get into bed tonight to see what really happens. Thank you Diana for yet another wonderful story - all your characters are wonderfully real.
I don't want to describe anything about the story - you must read it for yourself and experience the above comments. Enjoy!!!
Diane Chaberlain is one of my favorite authors. She never fails to get my attention right from the start and end with a great twist. I find myself thinking about the characters days after I've finished the book like they were real acquaintences. I agree with another reviewer that this would be a good book for teenagers as well. Diane has revealed the depths thay naive young love can take you against our better judgement. Not to give the impression that this is some teenage love story, it's not. Read it yourself, you won't be disappointed.
