This Celtic solo book is designed for the Harpsicle ® Harp and other small harps, although larger harps can also easily play this music. The range is from C below middle C on the low end, to the high G two octaves above middle C. It has a wide variety of Irish tunes, including Danny Boy and Greensleeves. Some are easy and some are more challenging. The songs are in no particular order of difficulty. There are three original songs in the book. There are no sharps or flats in this book, but harps with levers or pedals will enjoy it equally. Several of the Celtic selections include ornamentation that is often seen in Irish music. Those techniques are explained below. The chord symbols are listed above the measures in every song. All the fingering is included to help the beginning harpers find their positions and move from measure to measure more effectively. The first two selections also include the brackets to help the musician at the beginning. As you play each of these Celtic tunes you can almost feel the fresh breezes and picture the green countryside and towering castles of Ireland. The title song, “Beyond the Cliffs of Moher†is found on page six. Go ahead, let it take you away to that magical emerald island and remember, always have fun and relax as you play.
