The most frequent questions I get from people, when they hear I am a psychology instructor or clinical therapist, concerns Bipolar Disorder. Recent studies indicate that Bipolar Disorder is one of the leading disabilities in the world. It seems everyone knows someone affected by this illness. A few years ago, not many people were talking about this disease, possibly due to the lack of information regarding this disorder. As a result of the stigma of having a “mental problem,” most individuals suffering from Bipolar Disorder do not tell their family, friends, or co-workers. It is time to let the secret. I will do this through the true stories and experiences of mine at the psychiatric hospital where I worked for several years.
