A recognized authority on waterfowl and penguins, Frank S. Todd has worked more than 30 seasons in the Antarctic, Subantarctic and high Arctic. As corporate vice-president of aviculture and research at Sea World for 16 years, he was the creator of the world-famous Penguin Encounters and was responsible for many first controlled-environment breedings, including the Emperor Penguin. An ardent conservationist, he is the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Gold Conservation Medal awarded by the San Diego Zoological Society, and the U.S. National Science Foundation Polar Medal. He is the author of six previous books, including the highly acclaimed Natural History of the Waterfowl of the World.
