BLACK BERKEY ELEMENTS FILTER TYPICAL CONTAMINANTS THAT COULD BE PRESENT IN TAP WATER AND RAW, FRESHWATER SOURCES SUCH AS LAKES, RIVERS AND PONDS- Choose only Black Berkey Elements. There are no substitutes for Berkey performance and quality.
FLUORIDE AND ARSENIC REDUCTION- Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements are designed for use in conjunction with Black Berkey Elements to adsorb fluoride, arsenic(V) and pre-oxidized arsenic(III), and other residual typical heavy metal ions.
ECONOMICAL, LONG-LASTING- A pair of Black Berkey Elements lasts for up to 6,000 gallons before replacement is recommended, depending on the quality of influent water. Each additional pair of elements (sold separately) adds an additional 6,000 gallons of contaminant reduction to your system before replacement is recommended. Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements should be replaced after 1,000 gallons of use, under normal conditions.
INDEPENDENT TESTING- Berkey Water Systems has used several independent third-party labs to test a broad range of typical contaminants found in freshwater sources including tap water, and has conducted Extreme Testing for lead and PFCs in order to show the effectiveness of Black Berkey Elements.

Replacement filters will fit the following Berkey systems: Big Berkey, Royal Berkey, Imperial Berkey, Crown Berkey, Berkey Light, Travel Berkey The Black Berkey Filters are self-sterilizing and cleanable. They remove a wide range of contaminants and far exceed EPA and ANSI/NSF (Std. 53) standards. Filtration Specifications for the Black Berkey Purification Elements: Viruses 99.999% reduction; Pathogenic Bacteria 99.9999% reduction; Total Chlorine - Below lab detectable limits, Volatile organic compounds - Below lab detectable limits, Heavy metals - 95% for most metals. Also removes or reduces Arsenic 99%, MBAS 96.67%, Nitrites 95%, Selenium 97.5%, Thallium by 99.5%, as well as rust, silt, sediment, turbidity, foul taste and odors. The Fluoride filters work with the Black Berkey Elements and remove 95% of the fluoride from your water. They will also reduce the levels of Arsenic III and V, MTBEs, and other heavy metal ions.
