Answering questions about black society from the 1700s to the mid 1970s, this chronicle was written from the point of view of a woman who spent 50 years documenting the activities of the often alluded to but largely unknown class of black Americans. It describes the significant roles and contributions of the black upper class within the historical context of the past 200 years of American history.
