Returning to Nuln after her adventures in Praag, Ulrika finds the Lahmian vampires preparing for war. Across the Old World, their rivals, the sinister von Carsteins, attack their strongholds and lead the witch hunters to their hidden lairs. Spurned by her sisters, Ulrika forms an uneasy alliance with the von Carsteins in a plot to destabilise the Empire by striking at its very heart – they plan nothing less than the assassination of Emperor Karl Franz. With enemies on all sides and the Empire in flames, Ulrika must decide whether her future will see her living among the humans, or as their enemy.

In the Ulrika trilogy, each book has been an improvement from the one before. The third installment in the Ulrika series is by far the best, with Ulrika well-established as a Warhammer protagonist.
Originally from the Gotrek & Felix series, Ulrika was Felix's former love interest. The Kislevite noble traveled with Gotrek, Felix, and Max Schreiber, and was then kidnapped by Krieger in Sylvania, who turned her. Bloodborn, the first in the series, took place between her appearances in Vampireslayer, and Manslayer (both Gotrek & Felix novels)...
There's no way to be sure this is the end of Ulrika's adventures (hopefully not), but it's certainly the end of her first trilogy. 'Bloodsworn' picks up not long after the previous novel leaves off, with Ulrika arriving in Nuln to warn the Lahmians of a sweeping plot to overthrow the Empire, only to discover that the sisterhood is in disarray and still very unhappy with her. From there things are pretty much non-stop until the finale.
As always, Long is a master of presenting the Warhammer World in both its glory and its horror, and Nuln is just as majestic and decrepit as before. We get to see some new sights and meet some new folks, most of whom don't fare particularly well once the vampires start warring on each other. Ulrika is as headstrong as ever, frustratingly so at times; her impatience gets her into more trouble in this book than in both previous books combined. There are not a lot of new characters introduced here, but those we do meet are well-characterized,...
Ulrika Magdova Straghov had been turned into a vampire against her will by Adolphus Krieger. Instead of dying beneath the blade of Slayer Gotrek's axe that night, she had become a daughter in darkness to Countess Gabriella, a Lahmian vampire, for training. Ulrika had left the countess for awhile, but now returns to Nuln. Yet as Ulrika enters Nuln she finds the Lahmian vampires preparing for war. Across the Old World, their rivals, the sinister von Carsteins, attack their strongholds, lead the witch hunters to their hidden lairs, and are amassing an army to strike. Only a few hours back in Nuln, Ulrika finds herself leaving her mistress - again - and being hunted by her sisters - again. But this time Ulrika is determined to prove herself by bringing back the head of their enemy. However, Ulrika sees red when the humans strike down the only vampire sister she cares for. Angry at the entire sisterhood for treating her as a prisoner and wanting vengeance upon the whole human race, Ulrika...
