5/8" blade is made of the best Solingen razor steel
For many years, canvas Micarta has been well established and a proven material for handles of sporting knives and outdoor knives. Generally, Micarta is a compound material, consisting of fabric and epoxy. To produce Micarta, many layers of the medium (canvas) are immersed in epoxy. When hardened, it can be ground in the appropriate shape, and the typical structure of the basic material comes out in a beautiful way. The handle scales of the new straight razor model Tree Brand are made of the very popular brown canvas Micarta. Canvas Micarta not only has an appealing look, it also offers a lot of advantages in use. This material is extremely rugged and provides a very secure and comfortable grip, even with wet hands. The 5/8" blade is made of the best Solingen razor steel (high edge retention, non-stainless), and will provide the perfect result, on a daily basis, with the traditional hollow grind. Made completely by hand in Solingen, Germany. Delivered in historical packaging with a certificate of authenticity.

Boker makes very good products and stands behind them. DO NOT buy some El Cheapo razor to start out with buy a good quality one and if you don't like it sell it on ebay and you will get most of your money back buy a cheap razor and no one will want it. the razor will come sharp enough to shave arm hair but i would strongly suggest having a Pro set the bevel and hone it for you the first time so you get the shave you want the first time. if not you will get nicks and razor burn and you won't like that believe me on this and get a good strop and watch some video's on youtube as to how to strop it correctly after a few mos. if it needs to be touched up get a 12K waterstone and watch a few more vids. and do it yourself if you feel you can. if not once again send it to a pro. after you send it to a pro a few times you can pay for a good 4000/8000 Norton stone. youtube will be your best friend for a while if your just starting out new at this sport. go slow take your time and don't get...
My fiance got me this for Christmas and I LOVE shaving with it! I was going to go with a Dovo but I wanted a truly old fashioned style razor (solid steel). I have a Boker automatic knife and I love it so I figured a straight razor made by Boker will be just as good. This type of shaving does have quite a large learning curve that range from the angle of shaving, pressure, direction of how your hair grows, how to shave with both hands, etc. I purchased a nice strop to go with this and after I stropped it for the first time, it was a very smooth shave. It did not come without a few nicks (which I absolutely expected). After the first few shaves do not get discouraged if the results were not as expected. During my first few shaves, my face was sensitive, I did cut myself a few times, and I missed a few patches of hair on my chin and had rough "5 o clock shadow" areas. The more you use the straight razor, the better you will be, the better you will learn how your facial...
I shaved with a straight razor for years, until one of my son's friends walked off with it about 15 years ago.. I missed the ritual of stropping the blade and whipping up the lather and decided to save money over the long haul by investing in new shaving gear.. I had to strop the blade quite a bit to get an edged that I was comfortable with, like I did with my last one.. I had less wrinkles to worry with 25 years ago than today but I haven't bled all that much so far...
