The Boyds Pro Varmint stock resulted from increasing customer demand for tactical style replacement stocks for use on rimfire rifles. Having been well received by the shooting community, Boyds Pro Varmint gunstocks are no longer limited to .17 and .22 LR calibers, but rather are found on short action rifles of various makes and calibers, including the Savage Axis in calibers ranging from .22-250 to 7mm-08 Rem.

Finished in black textured paint, the ergonomically designed Pro Varmint gunstock weighs just under three pounds, and will accommodate barrels from 18 to 24-inches. The stock has an overall length of 31 Â½ inches, a center-to-center action screw measurement of 4 25/32 inches, a 13 Â¾ inch length of pull and an approximately 3 17/64 inch box magazine opening. Boyds' strict quality controls and adherence to manufacturing standards ensure a proper fit.

The stock's extended forend offers improved stability for shooting long range stationary targets, but is still sleek enough for plinking and general purpose shooting. The Pro Varmint's dual-purpose butt hook gives the shooter better control over the rifle, while also providing a more secure sandbag grip when firing from a bench. The stock's 2 front and 1 rear swivel studs simplify adding or removing a bipod.

The Monte Carlo comb on the Pro Varmint's raises the shooter's cheek for better eye-to-sight alignment when firing a rifle with a large scope. The ambidextrous grip with its subtle palm swell on both sides lets either hand assume a natural, more comfortable hold. The Pro Varmint gunstock comes with a 1/2 inch non-slip rubber recoil pad. As with all Boyds gunstocks, the Pro Varmint comes with a 90-day manufacturer's warranty.
