I bought these as replacement pads for the pancakes that came on my Fostex T50RP MK3 headphones. After some tossing up between the Shure 1540 alcantara pads, and these, I chose these because they're a but cheaper and me personally I am unlikely to notice that much of a difference. Plus I like the all-black look for this set of headphones.
***IF YOU ARE BUYING THESE FOR THE FOSTEX T50RP MK1/2/3:*** These pads *do* fit. It's a tight fit, but you have to have patience and stretch them gently. It will take time to work them on; they won't fit at first. I found a jar that has a mouth basically identical to the Fostex cans, and popped these on for about ten minutes, then worked them gently onto the headphones and they went on much easier. Patience is a virtue stretching these enough to get them on. Once they're on, they stretch out fine and look like they're supposed to be there. *DO NOT cut the earpads to make them fit better - you'll get them on easier, but they're stretch...
Just to be clear, I knowingly bought these replacement ear pads that aren't specifically made for the Sennheiser Momentum 2. The size of the ear pads is bigger than the original by about 1 full cm length wise and 0.5cm width wise. The thickness of the padding, along with the angle difference of front to back, and the somewhat similar attachment mechanism is what led me to get them anyway.
It's so comfortable! While I liked the feel of the real leather on my original ear pads, the added cushion (nearly double on the thicker side!) makes a big difference. I've already fallen asleep with them on.
Brainwavz' recommendation/answer as to which side goes front is questionable, honestly. Acoustically makes more sense to me that the headphones angle in from the front into the ear, rather than their recommendation to have the thicker side front. If anything, thicker side back seems to have a better overall fit and seal around the ear for me.
SOOOOOO comfy! I'd have to say that these are quite possibly THE most comfortable pads I've ever used, about as soft as the ones that come with my Momentums. I think someone else said they're like "pillows for the ears" ... indeed they are!
I purchased these to replace the stock pads that came with my newly purchased HiFiMAN 350's from Massdrop. They were supposed to fatten up the bass a bit, which they did, but now it sounds a bit too heavy. But they're so soft that I have no intention of putting the original pads back on. Just a note for anyone replacing these pads on the same headphones as mine. BE VERY CAREFUL because they aren't a perfect fit for the "ring" bracket that hold the pads to the headphones. I didn't stretch the pads out enough, so the rings got bent a bit too much and one of them cracked. I managed to get it to work without totally breaking it, but as I understand, those rings are not easily available. So, for your own sake, stretch the pads...
