I bought this machine over a year ago and love it! I learned how to sew on a White, and used singer for years and my last singer had a hissy fit and was terrible! So I thought I would try Brother, I have been sewing for 40 + years and this machine is the bomb, no trouble at all, easy to use if you take the time to learn it. It has a nice overcast stitch so I don't have to pull out the serger for every project. It's quiet, smooth and worry free. If I decide to get another machine it will be a Brother. Oh yea, the fancy stitches work like a charm. I got mine at Wal-mart, but I just want people to know it's a great machine.
Worked fine for a couple of weeks, then it started skipping stitches. We tried everything suggested in the manual, but were unable to get it to work correctly. We tried calling the Brother help line, but they were closed. Ultimately, after a lot of wasted time trying to resolve the issue, we returned the machine.
I have had this machine for 10 months. had no problems with it. the question above as to how wide the zig zag stitches are is 7. Not 5mm if your machine skips stitches you need to clean the bobbin area with a soft brush. A paint brush will do. Use a new needle . And use quality thread. It shouldn't skip stitches if you do these steps..
