CROSSDRESS TO IMPRESS: Fashion, Beauty & Style Advice for Crossdressers & Transgender Women

The "Impress" part of this bookâ€™s title came about while talking fashion with a crossdresser named Miss Carly. She loved all the various tips, techniques and secrets Iâ€™ve acquired after more than two decades in the fashion business - including my ongoing gig as Editor-in-Chief of the popular fashion-trend blog I founded in 2004 called Fashiontribes.com. When youâ€™ve written countless articles for lifestyle publications the world over, hit the pavement trendspotting and styled a boatload of photoshoots (I used to be a stylist in NYC), you learn what it takes to develop a look. Which is what Miss Carly found most confusing.

Now, if you're like Miss Carly, you love your drunk e-shopping in the wee hours. How else to fathom those inexplicable 80s-hair-band spandex leggings? Things adorned with unicorns and rainbows? And zebra-print...everything. (Gurlfriend claims to have zero recollection of ordering these. I would, too.) Drunk shopping only works if you know what you're doing. No, not just being able to find the Amazon Prime Buy button when youâ€™re half in the bag, but following a plan. If you just pick up random stuff here, there, wherever - you'll end up with a crossdressing closet stuffed to the gills and "nothing" to wear.

Translation: "I canâ€™t seem to pull an outfit together that projects the image I want."

Hence Crossdress to Impress.

As your chatty tour guide and fashion interpreter, I will point out various interesting landmarks and noteworthy features in the landscape, pretty much whatever I think will make your crossdressing journey more fun and inspired. Including where to find the coolest clothing, nab the chicest accessories, score fab wigs and stock up on makeup must-haves & just-for-funs (lipstick "tattoos" & eye shadow "stickers" anyone?). I also discuss why women's clothing sizes are such a mystery and include male-to-female conversion charts for undergarments, fashion and footwear. Plus I found an interesting array of books & downloadables you might enjoy, as well as some cool fashion & makeup apps...technology is a beautiful thing that can assist with turning you into one!

And pulling everything together into a coherent image is easier than you might think. All you need is a style mentor. So I came up with a shortlist of ten timelessly stylish lovelies for you to choose from. These ladies - and one gender-bender - spent many years and much cash perfecting their look. They know what theyâ€™re doing when it comes to wielding the power of fashion, hair, makeup and style to craft an image.

Your own crossdressing chic will not only become top-notch, but as you continue to "invest" (um, okay, go on drunken e-shopping sprees in the middle of the night), you'll find that from the spendiest frock to the teeniest bit of bling, you'll enjoy a lot more confidence in your choices as you plunk down your plastic.
