Certan - Control of Wax Moth Larvae in Honeybee Frames (5 OZ) NOT for USE in Live Hives OR ON Frames Infested with WAXWORMS. USE to Protect Clean Dry STORED Frames. Approved in All 50 States and DC.
- Sufficient to protect 80 Deep Langstroth Style Frames. Apply with a sprayer to dry clean frames. Spray on BOTH sides and allow to dry before storage. DO NOT USE INSIDE A LIVE HIVE. DO NOT USE INSIDE A LIVE HIVE.
- Non toxic to bees, pets, or humans. Now approved in 50 states plus DC.
- Mixes 19:1 Water to Certan, 5 oz makes 100 oz. Use the mixed solution within 48 hours. Some users had problems figuring out the mixture. If you use ONE ounce of Certan, mix that with 19 ounces of water. Use 19 parts water to one part Certan. Five ounces makes 100 oz of solution (5 oz of Certan plus 95 oz (19x5) of water - 1:19). The ratio is by VOLUME, not WEIGHT.
- No need to use paradichlorobenzene, SO2, or put frames in freezer. No need to crosshatch frames or hang in open air. DO NOT USE IN A LIVE HIVE.
- Do not use on frames IN HIVE, or on frames already infested with waxworms. This is a PREVENTATIVE biological agent, not a PESTICIDE.
- DO NOT USE IN LIVE HIVES. After mixing with water, all mixed product must be used within 48 hours or disposed. DO NOT USE IN LIVE HIVES. DO NOT USE IN LIVE HIVES. Sorry to repeat this; there are new beekeepers who cannot read English and are unwilling to read and follow directions. This product is NOT designed to kill wax worm larvae in live hives. It is a preventive to be used on DRY STORED FRAMES to prevent damage over the winter or while the frames are in storage. Using Certan in live hives will be INEFFECTIVE and could damage the hive.
