The Cobbs were ignorant woods-people that died off and left nothing to fear. Locals in Naples, Maine think they know this story. But are they wrong?

Luke Howard and his mom move to Naples and Luke’s eager to make new friends. When Jason and Davey invite him out to the abandoned Cobb place for a game they call “chasing ghosts,” he’s ready and willing. However, the boys will come to discover that some vacant houses are better left to die alone.

Meanwhile, a punk band set to play in a rented cabin out of town feel eyes upon them. Somebody’s watching, but not their usual audience. When their lead singer strays too far from the group and disappears, his band mates set out in the darkness to find him.

Police Chief Walt Henderson is about to discover that there’s more going on out in the woods of his town than he ever imagined.

Chasing ghosts is more than just some children’s game.

Another intensely fun novella from Rolfe, I recommend this one to the top of your to-be-read pile.

Gore and horrific violence abound as the author tells us a fast little tale that reads like Laymon's classic THE WOODS ARE DARK meets a punk rock show on speed. This thing seriously blazes by, highlighting Rolfe's knack for storytelling at the most cinematic level.

Pace is actually a blessing and a curse, as my only gripe is that the thing moves a bit too fast at times. I found the frenzied pace to be a bit disorienting at times, losing track of which character is which. I would love to have seen this be fleshed out another hundred pages or so, giving us the full background on the treacherous villains of the story, the Cobb family and a bit more depth to the protagonists--excuse me, body count characters.

Reads like a late 80s slasher film, so if that's your thing, this novella will be. I enjoyed it alot, and think any fan of the horror genre would. I... Read more
This book doesn't play around, it comes at you fast, moving the story along at a brisk pace. The writing is clean and the characters relatable, they're not great people but at their worst they feel redeemable. Richard Laymon comparisons get thrown around a lot but reading this book, in the thick of it, when the blood was flying and things were getting really crazy, I got that same feeling a good Laymon novel gives, kind of queasy but with an evil grin on your face, turning the pages as fast as you can. A couple of passages felt like they could have been fleshed out a bit more, but nothing was sloppy or weak. If you're looking for something brand new or revolutionary this isn't for you, but if you're like me and you want a solid horror novel you can dig into pick this up. I'll definitely be looking for more of Mr Rolfe's books.
I became aware of "Chasing Ghosts", by Glenn Rolfe, in a tweet. I do not remember who posted the tweet. This was the first time I heard of Glenn Rolfe. The title caught my attention. So, I went to Amazon and read the plot summary. I also read all the reviews. I am a bit twisted, so I knew I would like this novella. I plunked down a whopping $2.99 for the Kindle version. I read all 102 pages in one sitting. I could not put it down. It is an excellent read. If you like the extreme, this is the book for you. "Chasing Ghosts" reminded me of extreme horror authors, Matt Shaw, Tim Miller, Duncan Ralston and Michael Bray.

A lot happens in this 102 page novella,.It is jam packed with action, violence, gore, blood and suspense. "Chasing Ghosts" is an extreme horror/suspense novella, and is not for those with a weak stomach.

"Chasing Ghosts" opens as young Jesse Gerrard leaves his home to meet up with best friend, Davey Schneider, and new... Read more
