My Ancient Mr. Coffee 8 cup died after 5 years of use and countless times being left on all day / overnight. I needed something new and cheap, as money is tight this month with the daughter's birthday coming up. I saw this coffee maker at Target for under $10.00 and made the purchase. I did not think that it would last a long time, or make particularly good coffee, but I thought it would be on par with my old basic skills Mr. Coffee and would last long enough until I was ready to spring for a more serious coffee maker.
On day 3, I got up, filled it with coffee and water, hit the power button, and stepped away for about 10 minutes. When I returned, nothing had happened. The heating element went out in it I assume, after just 2 days of coffee making.
I guess you get what you pay for, but for $10 bucks, it could have at least lasted 2 weeks. Don't waste any money on this machine.
I bought this coffee maker for under $10 at target. I am on my 2nd one! the first one (bought 4 months ago) lasted a month. It was perfect in the beginning and I was very happy with my purchase! it was cheap, and brewed fairly quick. until it just didn't brew one day! being still new, I had the box so I took it back to target and swapped it for a new one. that one was working good and lasted 3 months, until today, it didn't want to brew! I should've read reviews on here before I purchased it!
if you don't mind spending $10 every month for a new coffee maker go for it. Personally Im over wasting my time! Im going to purchase a better quality coffee maker!
You truly do get what you pay for!
I bought this exact model at a Target store about four years ago & have used it almost daily since then. It has worked without a hitch. It is simple: put the paper basket liner in, put the coffee in, put the water in, close the lid, press the button, & wait for the coffee to come out into the pot. It makes great coffee, keeps it warm, & has the interrupt function in case I can't wait for the entire pot to brew (and some mornings, I can't!). It's still plugging along four years later, making great coffee. I guess I'll get a Proctor-Silex when this one eventually croaks, because it looks like the current versions of this model are pretty hit-or-miss. That's too bad. Looks as if Chinese quality assurance now is where Japanese quality assurance was back in the 1950s: pretty poor. All I want is a cheap & simple coffee maker that'll last a few years. Thanks fellow Amazon reviewers for the warning about the spotty quality on this model! Glad I got lucky four years ago...
