Quirky, funny, lighthearted Cherry is starting to panic. She's pushing 30 and has a bit of a weight problem. But most of all, she is looking for love in all the wrong places. For her, the wrong place is thinking she could handle missionary life with a young Indiana Jones look alike. Her complete failure to understand herself unfolds as she realizes the treasure she has been missing is right under her nose.

Others have described the main character as one dimensional. I would agree and state it slightly differently. The only focus in her life was getting married and nothing else really seemed to matter. What a sad statement on someone's life and especially for a Christian. I would hope your goal as a Christian is a little higher than that.
I did not find the book enjoyable. I wouldn't say it was bad, but it certainly wasn't good.
Cherry has a problem when it comes to men. Her friends all have men wanting to date them, but not her. She'll soon be 30, and she wants to find a husband and have a family. She keeps wondering what is wrong with her. When Todd comes home on furlough from Africa, she's enchanted. She's sure she can join him in his mission work. When he's not as enthusiastic, things seem to be falling into the old pattern again.
I didn't like this book at all to start with. Written in first person, Cherry was so shallow and chatty, she made me cringe and shake my head. Despite thinking she's a strong Christian, she's terribly judgmental and holds a grudge forever. The whole first chapter was just Cherry talking about herself--not a good way to start a novel. If a man catches her attention as particularly good-looking, she has a crush like a fourteen-year-old. It did get better, thankfully, although a two was as high as I would have been able to give the first section. I loved Grant, and he...
Cherry Cobbler was so much fun to read and a great lesson on patience. It was refreshing to read a book with Christian standards that parallel my own values. The characters came alive and I felt like I could relate to their real life issues. It was suspenseful and kept me up reading way too late at night. I was disappointed when the book ended - hoping there will be a sequel! I recommend the book for a great read on your kindle or e-reader!
