Ed Ames first gained notoriety as one of four siblings in the beloved '50s vocal group the Ames Brothers, but his star rose even higher when he split off for a solo career as an actor he starred as Chief Bromden opposite Kirk Douglas in the Broadway premiere production of One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and, of course, as Mingo on the Daniel Boone television show and as a singer, recording some 20 albums for RCA throughout the '60s and early '70s.
