The snubber isolates the very front of the engine frame from the vehicle frame and absorbs the lifting torque and vibration from the engine to the rest of the car. Over time the snubber becomes brittle, flattens out or breaks up and is ineffective in damping the engine vibration and start up torque. It is very easy to locate and visually inspect.
