The collegiate recruiting process is where college coaches will identify potential prospects, watching them play while evaluating skill set, determining their future as college athletes, and ultimately deciding on what (if any!) offers to make that player. This recruiting process can be an exciting but stressful endeavor for the aspiring collegiate athlete.

Will I meet the academic expectations of the institution?
Is there potential for a scholarship?

Similarly, college baseball coaches view the time as being critically important; exciting due to the prospect of signing stellar new players yet stressful as there are important decisions to be made. What do we think about this left-handed pitcher? Can we sign this big time prospect or will we lose them to another program? How do we balance so few scholarships and so many players we want to woo into our program?

Understand that there is no â€œone step fits allâ€ routine to this: while the rules of professional conduct and ethics applies to all the programs, each institution has their own unique fingerprint. For example, some coaches may gain their first exposure to a prospect at a camp or showcase (more on this later!) and begin the steps of conducting evaluation on the spot. Some programs will make decisions on players quickly; others may require more evaluation and dialogue with the prospect.
