Description
- Atmospheric vacuum breakers (AVBs) prevent backsiphoning of contaminated water into potable water supplies if a pressure loss creates vacuum conditions
- Also called anti-siphon vacuum breakers, they have an atmospheric vent that allows air to enter the valve and prevents a siphon from forming during periods of low or no demand
- A seal is engaged to close the vent when water is flowing
- They are not for use in continuous pressure applications
