Back at the beginning of the United Church of Christ -- sometime about 1958 -- the UCC Theological Commission met at a Cleveland airport hotel to draft a statement of faith. (I like to call it "the airport statement of faith." Roger Shinn went up to his room one evening and drafted what became, after group editing and a couple of revisions at the 1959 Second General Synod, the UCC Statement of Faith.
