Sizing of this product should be determined by using a Brannock device. At the time I purchased these the sizing chart on the product description was not at all right.
This is my second pair of this boot in 10 years. The first pair is still in great shape after 5 years of daily wear. The only reason I needed a new pair was because my shoe size changed pretty drastically and I just can't wear the old ones anymore.
The spit-shineable leather gives this boot a great appearance. The high rise provides great ankle support. Oil-resistant outsoles are fantastic for walking on otherwise slick surfaces like tile, steel, and cement. The new polyurethane foam insoles are very comfortable and will survive years of abuse, making for a more than adequate replacement of the originals.
These are historic reproductions, made by Corcoran, of the boots Corcoran made for U.S. servicemen during the 1940s and '50s. The look and fit are great, and they only get better with...
they're not exactly like grandpa's, these things are definitely tough for what i've put them through so far. they needed to be broken in like i expected. the thread for the soles have worn away but the sole is still sturdy. i have gone on many marches for the delayed entry program with these boots. they strugg off water but going through streams with these will water log them, i had to continue a 10 mile march in these and stopping periodically to change out socks. when i slipped and slid across a the road, the stitching on the side of one of the boots were obliterated but the boot is still going strong. the lack of modern day tread on the soles is something to get used to, obstacle like ice, mud, puddles are all troubling if you're not used to it. if you're going to be in a war reenactment where they are anal about things, i wouldn't buy these, but if they don't care about minor detals with the shoes, go for it.
These boots are the coolest thing you'll ever put on your feet friends. They are very sturdy with thick leather, and the soles are well made. Although I highly recommend these boots, there are a couple of things you should know. The first thing, is that, right out of the box, you're going to say "Is that leather or plastic?". Relax, you didn't get ripped off. The leather is spit-shineable and new, meaning that it will take a long time for it to acquire that look you imagined when you bought them. The second thing you should know is that these boots are designed to look like WW2 jump boots, so the soles don't have a lot of tread. Reason for this is that if you are parachuting and hit the ground with a lot of traction, you're going to break your ankle. So be careful on ice or slick surfaces. Thirdly, you need to know that, although the leather laces look super cool and vintage, they're a pain to tighten. You'll most likely eventually get tired of re-lacing your boot every time...
