Package came with a few of the rubber tips separated from the metal base. the rubber tip appears to slide over a screw that holds it into the base. It may be that they're supposed to be glued to the screw, but in some cases they are not, and in some cases the screw was not connected. I was able to fix the ones that were separated, but I don't trust them to stay without glue of some sort. All this would be forgivable, except that I've found the stylus tips don't work great even when they do hold together. Trying to use my on-screen keyboard, it doesn't register every key tap, perhaps every other or every third tap is skipped. Not really useful when trying to type something coherent. I found myself in some cases repeatedly typing my home button (on screen soft key) before it would register. This is unacceptable in a stylus. I would return this except that it isn't worth the time and effort to me for the price that I paid.
The only good thing I can say about this is it does...
Our smart phones are much-abused, when you think about it: rattling around in purses amongst the tiny bits of debris, sand that somehow worked its way into the bottom of handbags from that late-summer trip to the beach (even though it's now November..I don't clean often, and my handbag is no exception!), and left exposed in various ways which invite all kinds of Bits and Pieces to randomly wind up in those little cracks and crevices which *should* be kept pristine for optimal functioning of the device. Headphone jacks are particularly vulnerable to Bits and Pieces invasions, as most of the time they are left unplugged. That's why I love this little stylus/plug accessory.
Note that while I like the *idea* of a smart phone stylus, I rarely use this mini-stylus /plug for that purpose. My fingers, as clumsy as they can be, are still handier for navigating the screen. Perhaps if I had bull-in-a-china-shop man-fingers I would be all about the stylus; but then, if I had beefy...
The idea of a mini stylus, fitting into the earphone jack is really great. It provides a method to replace stubby fingers while not at home or at a place where a full sized stylus is inconvenient. However, having said that, the mini stylus' end is too soft to accomplish the task most of the time. The end collapses as it should, but most of the time it collapses to easily. If the manufacturer would make the end slightly thicker or otherwise stiffer, the product would be worthy. As it is now, the idea is great but the product lacks and is not worth the money.
