This is the first tool that has allowed me to extract heavy goat cream from the milk! I am in awe right now. I just processed many gallons of goat milk and got so much goat cream!! Then I tried making a small batch of goat butter and it worked! This cream separator is easy to use, and I would absolutely buy it again. Now I can make butter, cheese, buttermilk, ghee, kafir, and this list goes on!
Ok, so there is a learning curve. The manual that I received with the product was not in English so I had to watch all the videos that were available from the Slavic Beauty website. The first time I tried it I made a huge mess, milk everywhere but no cream. Then I watched more videos. The one that really helped was actually for the electric model. They said to only let a little bit of milk in at a time. So my recommendation is to watch as many of the videos as you can to glean the tips from users. The goat cream is nice in the coffee. As soon as I get enough cream I will make butter. UPDATE: I finally got to the tops of the learning curve and I am really cranking now, literally. It is quite a work out, but the cream is great. Time saving trick: have the cream separator all set up and when you bring the milk in all you have to do is filter it and put it through. It is just the right temperature and it saves a bunch of time. The device I got is solidly built. I can see that...
This was the least expensive cream separator I could find. It is made in Ukraine I think and is pretty much built Russian tough. I must warn you, this is an intimidating machine! The instruction manual is not very good. I was urged by other owner to watch the YouTube videos (VERY necessary) and when I contacted the company with a question, they were most helpful. This machine has A LOT of parts. The base is solid and sturdy- it was a little difficult getting the 3 in 1 oil for the gears, but I was lucky and my local hardware store actually had some. The downside is several of the parts are plastic: the separation disks (which on other models I've seen were metal), the outflow shoots, and the large hopper. I suppose this was done to reduce cost, and if you are careful, these parts should last a long time. I hand wash all parts- no dishwasher in this house! My first attempt at separation was rather messy. It's good to have the right size receptacles for catching the skim milk and cream-...
