Breaks down the rationales of cases and their corresponding tests in a very elementary way. Good introduction to criminal procedure. It provides a step-by-step thinking guide on how to apply the tests formulated in the decisions.
Minuses: Most of the book is redacted cases that you probably already have in a 1500 page Criminal Procedure casebook. The logic of including them here isn't clear. A law student, when buying a supplement like this, wants a case brief or a summary. Lots of open-ended questions meant to "stimulate" thought. Again, not really want a student is probably looking for. Only one exam/hypo in each topic section had an answer.
Pluses: The checklists were okay but could have been more detailed. The sample exam questions and answers were the best part of the book. They helped clarify how to structure an answer to a Criminal Procedure exam question and avoid making a muddled mess of things. This was really what I bought the book for, as I found it used for a couple dollars and needed something to help practice writing answers for an exam.
Overall, this book read more like either an instructor's manual for a casebook or a book for a high school class...
just what i want it for my class. hope i get good grade now. thank you guys gfor the deal
