I purchased the entire set when they were a lightning deal special. They are indeed big and beautiful. Their length is about 14.5" and the handles at the widest point are about 1" in diameter. The skimmer is about 4" across and about a half inch deep. The bowls of the spoons are about 3" across. Their average weight runs about 4.5-6.5 oz. For example the ladle weighs about 5 oz. This should give you a good idea of how large they are. The finish is highly polished stainless steel. Even the edges of the spoons and spatulas are smooth and nicely finished.

These tools are much larger than the average kitchen utensils and stick out over the edges of my pots more than I am used to. They could probably be used in a commercially equipped kitchen. That said, I really like them. The handles are hollow and stay cool even in a boiling pot. Cleanup is a breeze. The skimmer is a jewel of a tool, much nicer than my old woven mesh spider.

The only downside to these... Read more
My mom was looking for the right metal turner so I ordered quite a few from Amazon for her to check out. The problem with Amazon is it offers so many products and not every product has a detailed enough description, e.g. length, weight, etc. Since I have done the legwork already, I might as well share the details with other potential buyers. For this turner:

Overall handle length: 11.0"
Length of shovel: 3.75"
Width of shovel (widest part): 3.0"

Weight: 4.6 oz (I would describe it as "well made but slightly light weight")
Comfort of grip: 5/5

I almost kept this one, but decided to pay up and get the VERTI instead, which is extremely well made.

I finally decided to get the followings:
Lower price point -
Economy Stainless Steel Buffet Turner
Economy Stainless Steel Buffet Turner, Slotted
by sturdy collection

Higher price point -

[NOTE – since several products are lumped together on the same page, to be clear my review is for the SKIMMER]

It was not a difficult choice to pick this model over some of the others sold here – either a no-name flimsy looking product for twice the price or an all-stainless steel Cuisinart brand for a much more reasonable price. My final decision came down to this one or a similarly-low priced one from Faberware, another brand name I respect. The deciding factor is the shape. I guess it all depends on what you plan to do with a straining ladle and that’s why there are different shapes. My primary use is to scoop cooked hamburger up out of the grease in the frying pan to drain it before dumping it into the recipe I’m cooking. The wire-type of ladle is not suitable because the hamburger would just fall through the holes. The Faberware, while nice, is too deeply dished, which makes it difficult to scoop something up out of a pan and while the... Read more
