Additional Information

From Miranda Hopkins, author of Amaryllis, Paperwhites and Poinsettias: Growing, Propagating and Reblooming Your Holiday Plants...

Irises and daylilies are outstanding choices for almost all hardiness zones, and they offer interest during most of the growing season. Their history, whether from the beginnings, or how they spread throughout the world is very interesting, and thanks to their continued popularity, botanists and hybridizers are preserving old species and creating new ones to share with future generations. They are also well-suited to a range of growing conditions – including soil pH levels, climate and growing region. Each of these perennials will expand over time, and their divisions will make it possible for you to fill existing beds or develop new ones – without having to spend money on buying more starter plants of the same variety.

In Daylilies and Irises: Growing and Caring For 2 Easy-To-Grow, Colorful Perennials, Miranda Hopkins takes the reader through the history of both of these beautiful perennials and provides us with an understanding of their history, hybridization and their proper care.

Download Daylilies and Irises: Growing and Caring For 2 Easy-To-Grow, Colorful Perennials today and start brightening up your garden this year.

Very good soup to nuts review of how to grow and maintain your irises...
You need this if you are looking to grow your own irises. This has everything
you could possibly need to do so easily and effectively. It has everything
from history, to pest control, to rhizome surgery.

As a Botany major, I'm impressed with the quality and scope of this manual.

The only thing I would suggest is a few more of the gorgeous pictures - Irises
are beautiful...let's see some more sprinkled throughout the text.

This book is a very in-depth book about the history, care and cultivation of both flowers. Everything you need to know is in this book but what I really enjoyed was the extensive history of the flowers that the author included. I have read quite a few gardening books and they are boring! I was really surprised to find myself getting into the story of the flowers more than the directions and was happy that I not only got what I needed to grow some pretty perennials, but also a very interesting afternoon read on the past uses of the flowers and how different hybrids came to be. There was some extensive research done for this book! It wasn't just thrown together like most kindle "How to" books and I will definitely be looking for this author again if I need any more gardening information.
Great book
