Time is a vast cosmic sea, where each life exists as rippling circles on its surface, past and future being eternally present. And occasionally, one expanding ring tangles with that of another, linking two lives together even though separated by centuries . . .
Georgiana Knight--born in the nineteenth century, but now living in 2013--has certain standards when it comes to mysteries: they must involve blood curdling threats, late-night rendezvous and the terror of Imminent Danger. So far, her current mystery has been a terrible disappointment. No ghosts, no dastardly villains, not even an actual murder weapon. Just a suspicious symbol, a drawing of a bloody dagger, and an old love letter. Though the centuries-old love letter is written in her own handwriting, so that's something, right? And there is a time portal in her cellar. Should she risk giving up hot showers and return to the past to discover the mysterious stranger who inspired (will inspire?) her passionate letter?
In 1813, Sebastian Carew has his own mystery to solve. As a teenager, he fell madly in love with his childhood friend, Georgiana. Ten years later, he returns from fighting abroad as an eligible man of fortune who must marry. And soon. He is determined to fend off fortune-hunting women, find Georgiana and win her affections. However, she has utterly vanished. Can he divine the truth of her disappearance and convince her to marry him before time runs out?

After reading (and falling in love with) Intertwine, I wasn't sure I would love Georgiana's story as much as Emme's. But Divine is every bit as wonderful--maybe even better. Like Intertwine, it has witty dialogue, with a few clever laugh-out-loud-funny scenes. But Divine seemed more complex, with unpredictable twists and turns, and a compelling mystery to solve. It's rich in Regency period details, but the author's lively voice is appealing to modern readers. Although I've never been blonde or rich or gorgeous, I found myself really relating to Georgiana, especially her romantic daydreams. And Sebastian is yummy!
I also love that it's steamy, but clean--a romantic novel that I can give to my teenage granddaughter as well as my mother. I can't remember the last time I stayed up all night because I couldn't stop turning pages (well, scrolling actually). If you love romance and mystery, you'll looooove Divine!
Divine is the second book by Nichole V I’ve read. I absolutely love her books. She writes clean romance with such a witty voice—nothing dull about it. The characters in this book came alive for me. By the end of the story I adored Sebastian—he was real, sincere, and so stinking awesome. Georgie does quite a bit of growing up over the course of the book as well. I loved to see how her character developed. It made her feel dynamic.
While reading Divine I was transported back in time to a different time period. Everything down to the smallest detail seemed so authentic. The clothing, the customs . . . and of course, the gooseberries. Haha. That tiny fruit plays such a funny part of the plot that runs through both of Nichole’s books (Intertwine and Divine).
Definitely a book I would recommend.
Nothing gets more thoroughly delightful than this book. An imaginative young woman with a taste for mystery discovers what love is. Beautifully written and engaging, this book is every bit as enjoyable as the first in the series, "Intertwine". I enjoyed every minute reading it! I highly recommend this read for anyone looking to be completely enchanted.
