Additional Information

SHOT JACKSON and DONNA DARLENE Signed color 11x8½ advertisement for Shot Jackson's Sho-Bud pedal steel guitars, "The Best In Country Pickin'", with a photo of Shot Jackson on pedal steel guitar and his wife Donna Darlene on acoustic guitar Advertisement signed "Best Wishes/Donna Darlene" and "Thanx/Shot Jackson", both in blue ink. 11x8½ overall, 9¼x6¾ image, one surface. Captioned on verso: "BRIGHTEST STARS/ON THE Country Music Stage". This advertisement does double duty, advertising the country duo of Shot Jackson and Donna Darlene as well as his Sho-Bud pedal steel guitars and the guitar's distributor, Baldwin Piano & Organ Company. They are touted in this advertisement as "The Best In Country Pickin'". SHOT JACKSON (1920-1991, born Harold B. Jackson in Wilmington, North Carolina) was a country music guitarist known for his Dobro resonating guitar and pedal steel guitar work. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1944 to play on the Grand Ole Opry in Cousin Wilbur Westbrook's band. He also spent time playing on KWKH's Louisiana Hayride program in Shreveport, Louisiana with the Bailes Brothers, then with other artists like Webb Pierce, Jimmie Osborne and Red Sovine before hooking up with the Tennessee Mountain Boys and then Roy Acuff's Smoky Mountain Boys. Jackson was badly injured in 1965 with Acuff in a car accident and, after that, started performing with his wife DONNA DARLENE. Jackson also designed a pedal steel guitar with Buddy Emmons, the Sho-Bud, and later a seven string resonator guitar called the Sho-Bro. He was so busy marketing and selling the Sho-Bud that he had to quit the Smoky Mountains Boys briefly in the early 1960s. Lightly toned and creased, otherwise in fine condition. - Please contact us if you have any questions or require additional information. HFSID 280004
