Dusk with a Dangerous Duke

Alexandra Hawkins

They were children when the Duke of Huntsley was introduced to Lady Grace Kearly. The young duke―nicknamed "Hunter"―took one look at his future bride and thought only of escaping his responsibilities to his family. Marriage was for grown-ups and Hunter still had years of skirt-chasing ahead of him. But now the time has come for Hunter to heed the call: if this Lord of Vice hopes to keep all of his inheritance, he'll have to claim his long-neglected betrothed…

With her twenty-first birthday approaching, Lady Grace dreads the thought of marrying the duke she has met only once―especially since he's grown into a notorious rake who will probably beget his heir and abandon her in the country while he pursues fresh game in London. So when Lady Grace coolly decides to call the wedding off, even Hunter is surprised by his refusal to let her go. Suddenly, the notion of claiming and taming this green-eyed beauty is one challenge he cannot resist…

I must say that I am a fan of A. Hawkins' other books in this series. This was a big disappointment for me. I waited for months for the title come out, and I was looking forward to it. My kindle copy had many errors in grammar that drive me crazy. The storyline had little tension between the main characters and all of a sudden, poof, they fell in love. I saw none of the tension building and growth of their love through some sort of interaction. The sex scenes left much to be desired too, I didn't see the attraction between them at all. This title seemed like it was a rush to finish or something. I still have high hopes for Frost's story/ backstory and the woman who can finally bring him to heel! Wait to get this one at the library, it was not one I would ever reread, unlike the others in the series
Alexandra Hawkins is an excellent writer but with that said, does no one proof read anymore? I found so many errors; no instead of not, his instead of hers, words actually repeated and the list goes on. It really breaks the flow of reading when you stumble over the mistakes. Okay, now to the story. After reading the other 5 books in the series Lords of Vice, I was looking forward to Hunter's story. The first books of the series were very good and you couldn't wait to pick up the next one. Saint's story, in number 5, was a huge disappointment. So you would think after the reviews of Ms. Hawkins reading public, she would sit down and really give this book, #6 in the series, her dedicated focus to produce a product equal to, or better than, her earlier series books. She failed. Only Frost's story is left. Keep your fingers crossed.
I did not like either character. Hunter was rude, harsh, domineering, rude and a braggart. Yes I meant to type rude twice. He was rude to his friends and... Read more
I hate to give negative reviews, but I did not like reading this book. I am really starting to lose interest in her books. The first few were not bad, but the previous book and this makes me hope that the last book in the Lords of Vice featuring Frost would redeem the whole series.

Lady Grace Kearly has been betrothed to the Duke of Huntsley (Hunter)from the cradle, when she was two and he twelve. Naturally, Hunter did not take this news well, and sought to escape the marriage by neglecting his fiancee for nineteen years. However, should they not wed by Grace's twenty-first birthday, she would have her inheritance turned over to a spendthrift uncle, and he would lose his whole inheritance to a cousin. Not wanting to lose his inheritance, Hunter finally decides to marry Grace, while Grace made the decision to null the betrothal. They kept on missing each other, and Hunter meets his grown bride for the first time by 1/5 of the novel.

Hunter believes Grace to be an... Read more
